Evangeline “Van” Francis, was born on November 1, 1937, in Live Oak, Florida, to the late Clifford Francis and Bernice Stockton Francis.
In her early years, Van attended Houston Community School and later graduated from Douglas High School with the Class of 1956. She furthered her education at Jones College in Jacksonville, Florida. Van retired from MetLife Insurance Company and lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida until moving to the Dowling Park retirement Community in 2015.
Everyone who knew Van was familiar with her vibrant and infectious laugh. She radiated joy, positivity, and most importantly, she always had a word from God. She was a young girl when she first accepted Christ, and she loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. She was a long time member of Allen Chapel AME Church of Houston, Florida, and she later served at First Baptist Church of Piney Grove in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Van's sweet personality was visible to everyone after just one encounter. She never met a stranger.
Evangeline Van Francis was called Home at Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, Florida on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Bernice Stockton Francis.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a son, Darryl Francis (Angela) Gainesville Florida; a dearest granddaughter, Cayla Mandrell, Gainesville, Florida, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
